STOCKHOLM KONST, SUMMER EXHIBITION 2026
Stockholm Konst’s summer exhibition at Strandvägen brings together works that, in different ways, take their point of departure from the architecture and ornamentation along Strandvägen. Diana Orving contributes with her work Föränderligt tillstånd (In Flux).
Four floating textile forms move above Strandvägen Quay like fragments of the sky, temporarily lowered between the city and the water. The work captures something fleeting in the way clouds dissolve. The movement of the wind and the constant shifts of light give the work a kind of physical body. Its transparent layers respond to the weather, movement, and changing time of day. At one moment, the forms appear clearly against the sky; at the next, they almost dissolve into the light. The wind becomes a co-creator, activating a slow choreography in which the materials billow, twist, and continuously transform.
The work moves between the controlled and the ephemeral. Seams, colour, and composition attempt to hold on to a moment of nature’s own ornamentation, while the expression is continually transformed before the viewer. The palette is soft, with watercolour-like transitions that evoke the changing hues of the summer sky from dawn to evening. The forms may suggest sails, clouds, or shimmering membranes. Rather than seeking to fix nature in place, the work attempts to move with it, inhabiting a state in which control and dissolution coexist.
Diana Orving (b. 1985) has exhibited at venues including Carvalho Gallery (New York), Tempesta Gallery (Milan), Artipelag, and Millesgården (Stockholm).
